Kenya: Muslims Support Olando

FORMER Nyanza PC Paul Olando's bid for the Kakamega governor received a boost yesterday after Muslims backed him. Speaking yesterday after prayers at Jamia Mosque in Kakamega town, Kakamega Supkem chairman Abdalla Ateka said the Muslims assessed all the governor candidates and settled on Olando.

Ateka said the Muslims will support Olando because he is the only candidate who has picked a Muslim Mohammed Mukhwana as his running mate. "We met and decided that as Muslim leaders, it is only Olando who has reached out to our community," said Ateka. "He has promised to work with us."
