Egypt: Qandil Underlines Role of NGOs in Developing Society

During a meeting with the representatives of the non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in Egypt, Prime Minister Dr. Hisham Qandil underlined the role of the NGOs in developing the society, adding that the government is keen on promoting these organizations and removing all obstacles they may face while performing their work.

Qandil pointed out to the economic and social challenges that Egypt is currently suffering especially the increase of poverty rates that hit 52% and illiteracy rates that reached 62%.

The Prime Minister affirmed the significant role played by the NGOs in achieving the national goals in the current period and called on creating a mechanism to coordinate the work of the NGOs to make use as much as possible of the charitable work they provide.
