Nigeria: Imo Legislator Appeals to Governor Orji of Abia to Check His Drivers' Recklessness

A member of the Imo House of Assembly, Mr Celestine Ngobiwu, has appealed to Gov. Theodore Orji of Abia to caution his drivers against reckless driving.

Addressing the assembly members in Owerri on Friday during plenary session, Ngobiwu said the governor's convoy was involved in a recent accident that claimed the lives of two citizens in his area.

He said that one other victim of the accident was lying critical in a hospital.

Ngobiwu also recalled that in December, the governor's convoy knocked down one of his constituents, Mr Linus Ezeakalam of Okenanlogho community near the boundary of Abia and Imo in his area.

The Deputy Speaker of the assembly, Mr Donatus Ozoemena, who presided over the session, promised to write a formal letter on the issue to the Abia assembly.
