South Africa: Rape of Three Year Old Must Lead to Swift Arrests

press release

The Democratic Alliance calls for the immediate arrest of the 20 year old uncle suspected of raping his 3 year old niece in Mankweng, Limpopo.

The DA is concerned that many horrific cases of sexual violence are yet to lead to arrests by Limpopo police.

Those who rape in Limpopo are being sent the message that you can get away with sexual violence in this province.

No arrests have been made since the brutal murder and rape of three children in Mookgophong in August last year. The little girl had apparently been raped before being stoned to death.

Girls at Sebitjha High School have also been subjected to a number of rape incidents due to the long distances they need to walk to school. No arrests have been made.

The DA recently walked in solidarity with these learners to raise their plight with the Education Department.

A bigger effort from police in Limpopo is needed to stop rape and bring justice for victims.

The DA continues to monitor the actions of the police in all of these cases.
