Massawa — President Isaias Afwerki today laid wreath at the Martyrs Cemetery in Tiwalet area of the port city of Massawa during an observance that marked the 23rd commemoration anniversary of Operation Fenkil. Furthermore, Mr. Al-Amin Mohammed Seid, Secretary of the PFDJ, Maj. General Humed Mohammed Karikare, Commander of the Naval Force, Ms. Le'ul Gebreab, Chairperson of the NUEW, and Ms. Tsigereda Woldegiorgis, Administrator of the Northern Red Sea region, laid wreath accompanied by military parade at the Cemetery.

Meanwhile, reports indicated that various programs, including cultural shows, were staged yesterday in connection with the momentous Day with a view to bequeathing national values. Maj. Teklebirhan Yohanes, coordinator of the activities, also gave detailed briefing targeting the historical dimension of Operation Fenkil.

Popular cultural shows were also staged in various corners of the port city.
