Nigeria: No Controversy Over Eagles Captaincy - Enyeama

Johannesburg — Super Eagles stand-in Captain Vincent Enyeama yesterday said there is no controversy over who is the captain of the Nigerian senior national football team, as Joseph Yobo is still in charge of affairs.

The former Enyimba of Aba goaltender, who stated this in a chat here, explained that he is just holding forth for the former Everton defence ace, who has deserves the position after a meritorious service to his fatherland.

According to him, if Nigeria wins the Nations Cup trophy on Sunday, he would give way for the substantive Captain Joseph Yobo to lift the cup, despite his now having enough playing time at the tournament.

"I am not the captain of Nigeria, Yobo is the captain. If we happen to win the trophy, which by God's grace will happen, Yobo will go up there and lift the cup. I am just wearing the arm band for him. He has done so much for this country and he deserves it", Enyeama said.
