Somalia: Somali and Allied Forces Dismantle Al-Shabaab Ambush Point

The Somali National Army, backed by the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM), dismantled an al-Shabaab ambush position in the Gedo region on Thursday (February 7th), AMISOM said in a statement.

Allied forces conducted a surprise attack on the militants in Mudale, where they killed several fighters and recovered four AK-47 rifles, one double-cabin vehicle and a variety of communications equipment.

The dismantling of the ambush position will open up movement between Mudale and Busaar villages, said AMISOM Sector II Commander Brigadier Anthony Ngere. "AMISOM is committed to protecting the security gains to ensure Somalia continues on the road to a sustainable peace," he said.
