Kenya: Wako Tournament Now Reaches the Quarter-Final Stage

THE Amos Wako football tournament reaches the quarterfinals stage in Busia today with eight boys and girls battling for top honours. Tournament chairman William Musumba and secretary Hillary Musundi said each of the 16 teams that have qualified for quarters will receive uniforms, a ball and cash awards.

Musumba said 91 teams which lost in the prelimimaries were yesterday awarded Sh7,000 each.The tournament which started in August last year with 182 teams is sponsored by Busia aspirant for Senator, Amos Wako. Each team received a set of uniforms and two balls before the start of the tournament.

Musundi said the tourmanent has unearthed 14 players who have since joined Premier and Nationwide clubs, among them is midfielder Bernard Ongoma who has joined AFC Leopards.
