Kenya: Judge Bar Kajiado Governor Hopeful

Three judges have declared a candidate for Kajiado governor unfit to run for the post. Josiah Taraya ole Kores was barred by a Nairobi court on Thursday.

A three-judge bench of David Majanja, Eric Ogola and George Odunga ruled Taranya ole Kores does not have the required academic papers to contest the seat. They directed the Kajiado county IEBC returning officer, Tom Mboya, to reject Kores' nomination papers based on the recommendation of the Commission of Higher Education.

The judges quashed the nomination certificate issued to the candidate on February 1. On Friday, Kores and his team of lawyers were locked up in a meetings the whole day as they deliberated on their next move. He was a leading con- tender for the seat.
