Kenya: Students Boost Shahbal Bid

9 February 2013

Barely a week after 50 student leaders in Mombasa endorsed Hassan Joho for Mombasa governor, about 1,000 students on Thursday promised to support for his rival Suleiman Shahbal.

The students, who had converged at the Tononoka Hall said they believe Shahbal is the best for the seat. Aysher Mohammed, one of the students and an official of the Shahbal Youth Network, said Shahbal is the only candidate who has presented his agenda for the youth and students. "None of these candidates has so far proven to us they will take care of our problems apart from Shahbal," she said.
