Eritrea: Commemoration of Operation Fenkil Concludes

Massawa — The 23rd commemoration anniversary of Operation Fenkil which began on the 8th this month in the port city of Massawa concluded yesterday.

Reports indicated that the commemoration witnessed the laying of wreath at the Martyrs Cemetery in Tiwalet area, sports and cultural activities, a seminar, community-based festivities and various programs that depicted national values, as well as reminiscences of Salina attack in 1977.

In a seminar he conducted with participants of the commemoration, Mr. Amr Hamd, head of administration and finance at the PFDJ branch in the Northern Red Sea region, asserted that the role of youths has become significant in the nation building process as in the armed struggle for independence. He further called on youths to keep intact national values and extend a helping hand towards popularizing Operation Fenkil.

Area administrations who demonstrated outstanding performances in various sports contests received award.
