Nigeria: Interior Minister Condemns Kano Killings

The Minister of Interior, Comrade Abba Moro, has condemnation the killing of nine female health workers in Kano State by yet unidentified gunmen in Kano last Friday.

The Minister in a statement by his Special Assistant on Media, George Udoh, described the attack on the health workers as "senseless, shocking and appalling".

He added that the attack was unacceptable under any circumstances since unsuspecting victims were on a national and international assignment of saving the lives of the country children from vulnerable diseases.

Moro maintained that it was high time, Nigerians from all walks of life irrespective of their tribe, religious and political affiliations rose up to put a stop to the incessant killing and unprovoked attacks of innocent Nigerians by members of a particular sect.

Consequently, the Minister urged all stakeholders in the Nigeria project to condemned the activities of the islamic sect.

"Politicians , political activists, academics, students union groups, civil society groups, religious leaders, traditional leaders, traditional institutions as well as professional bodies such as ASUU, NBA, NUJ, NMA should voice out their resentment against the evil being perpetuated by members of this faceless sect."

While condoling with the government, people of Kano state and the families of the victims, he assured that the government will not relent on its efforts at ensuring the protection of lives and property of Nigerians in the country.

Also, he urged all Nigerians to be more prayerful and provide useful information that would lead to the arrest of the perpetrators and their sponsors.
