Osogbo — A stalwart of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State, Chief Olufemi Omotara has ruled out the probability of the recent coming together of some political parties in the country posing any threat to the ruling PDP.
Fielding questions from journalists in Osogbo, Omotara said the emergence of All Progressives Congress (APC) from Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), All Nigerian Peoples Party (ANPP), All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), and the Congress for Progressive Change (CPC), would rather be a charge to action for PDP.
He said "Though Nigerians cannot be static, there is bound to be changes but it is not possible to take head from PDP. I can't see the merging parties agreeing. To me, they cannot unseat the ruling PDP because this development is not new in the political land scape of the country since independence.
"Very soon, ACN and CPC will be claiming that they are the majority, and will the remaining parties agree with them? Aside from that, will Tinubu allow Buhari to be President, or will Buhari allow Tinubu to be President? Who will be the vice president?
'We all know that two of them are hard-liners and none will submit to the other, I learnt Buhari still wants to be President at over 70 years. Can that be possible? Moreover, Nigerians are more enlightened now. What happened in June 12 cannot repeat itself again. Muslim/Muslim or Christian/Christian ticket cannot be possible," he said.
Omotara said what remains for the ruling PDP at the center is to buckle up and rigorously embark on things that will make life more comfortable for the masses.
"Once there is massive employment for our teeming youths, agriculture takes its rightful position and there is adequate security for life and property of our people, there will be no other option than to support PDP in any election," Omotara stressed.
