Nigeria: 5000 Nigerians Travel Out for Medication Monthly - NMA

Lagos — Over 5000 Nigerians visit India and other countries monthly for medical tourism with attendant risks and challenges, President of the Nigerian Medical Association NMA, Dr. Osahon Enabulele, has said.

Enabulele said on the average, between 20,000 to 40,000 US Dollars is spent by each traveller on each medical trip abroad.

Records show that over $500 is lost annually by Nigerians on account of medical tourism to countries outside Nigeria. Indeed, it has shown that India earns over $260 million Dollars from medical tourism from Nigeria alone, the NMA boss said.
