Kenya: Policeman Shot Dead in Mandera

A police reservist was shot dead in the border town of Mandera early this morning.

Authorities say the officer who was returning home after night patrol was shot from behind by unknown assailants who later escaped on foot.

Northeastern Provincial Police Officer Charlton Mureithi said that the incident happened at at 6.30am at Bula Nguvu Jamhuri location which is close to the Somalia border. The body of the KPR has since been buried at the Mandera cemetery grounds in accordance with the Islamic rites.
