Egypt: Interior Ministry - Ittihadiya Protests Started Peacefully

The Interior Ministry has blamed protestors for the violence that marred protests outside the Presidential Palace in Heliopolis. A media official at the ministry said in a statement on Monday 11/2/2013 that protests "started peacefully".

"But a group of angry protestors began to remove the barbed wire in front of the palace's gates and began hurling stones into the place," he said.

"Security forces are continuing their efforts to contain the situation and restore calm outside the palace," the statement read.
