Foreign Affairs Minister, Dr. Tedros Adhanom held talks on Monday (February 10) with the United Kingdom (UK) Minister for Africa, Mark Simmon on bilateral and regional issues.
On the occasion, Dr. Tedros expressed Ethiopia's interest to have more UK investment in in Ethiopia, particularly in the manufacturing sector. He said UK investors are encouraged to invest here especially in textile, leather and leather products sub sector. Mark Simmons told journalists after the talks that the discussion was mainly on bilateral ties as well as current security issues in East Africa.
He called on the Ethiopian government to strengthen its ongoing efforts to maintain peace and security in East Africa. The Minister also said that UK will work towards increasing the trade volume between the two countries. Regarding UK's development assistance, he said his country will continue to support the finance sector and capacity building to help Ethiopia achieve its development goals. He also told the Minister the readiness of UK investors to engage in manufacturing and mining sector's in Ethiopia.
