Gambia: Gunjur Daru Salaam Market Inaugurated

The National Assembly Member for Kombo South constituency, Hon. Abdou Colly, on Thursday 7th February 2013, presided over the inauguration of Gunjur Daru Salaam new market.

The market project was sponsored by Aita Pats and Friends from Sweden.

In his inaugural speech, Hon. Colley applauded Aita Pats and Friends for their tremendous contribution to the people of Gunjur Daru Salaam, adding that the market would help the residents of the area.

Colley also commended Amadou Janneh and Amadou Fadera for convincing Aita Pats and friends to render support to the community of Gunjur Daru Salaam.

The chief of Kombo South, Alhagie Mustapha Touray, thanked Aita Pats and Friends and their Gambian partners, Amadou Janneh and Amadou for the initiative.

Touray appealed to the youth of Gunjur Daru Salaam to be united and work together as one people.

The chairperson of Gunjur Daru Salaam youth Development Association, Alagie Sawaneh, hailed Aita Pats and Friends for patronising the people of Gunjur Daru Salaam with a new market.

Sawaneh also appealed to the donors to continue rendering support to Gunjur Daru Salaam, saying that the youths are ready to work towards the development of the area.

The sponsors of the new market project, Aita Pats, assured that they will continue to support Gunjur Daru Salaam whenever the need arises.

For his part, Amadou Janneh, a friend to Aita Pats and Friends, said the initiative which started in 2006 was not operational until in 2007.
