Gambia: 20 Begin Training On Leadership, ICT

Twenty personnel from the National Records Office (NRO) on Monday commenced a week-long training on leadership, information communication and technology at the Management Development Institute (MDI) in Kanifing.

The training, funded and organised by the Personnel Management Office (PMO) is being conducted by the MDI.

Addressing the trainees, MDI's deputy director general, Alieu K. Jarjue, stressed that it is the duty and responsibility of the employer to provide training opportunities for employees, given the importance of capacity building. He however pointed out that it is equally the duty and responsibility of the employees to deliver the goods as expected.

Jarju posited that in this rapidly changing and globalised world, it is imperative for all countries to develop adequate human resource capacities that will deliver services efficiently.

Noting that this year's training calender starts with the National Records Office, the MD1's No.2 urged the participants to take capacity building as their top priority.

He concluded by assuring that MDI's doors will remain open to everybody.
