Uganda: Oldest Football Competition Back

The 39th edition of the Uganda Cup is back. The Fufa Competitions Committee (FCC) has released the official draws and fixtures for Uganda's oldest football competition that dates as far back as the early 1970s.

Sadly, the tournament will roll off minus a sponsor following the expiry of the Bell Uganda contract last season. Fufa publicist Rogers Mulindwa says the federation is in advanced talks with a new sponsor whom they will unveil later on.

Sixty-seven teams have registered for the tourney, including all the sixteen Fufa Super League teams, nineteen from the Big League, nineteen regional teams, four from the First Division sides and nine non-league teams.

According to FCC secretary Decolas Kiiza, there will be three preliminary rounds for the non-league sides that kick off on February 16.

Select fixtures:

CRO v Ex-internationals

Corporate XI v Express

Nkumba University v Victoria University

Bweyogerere v KCC

Red Pepper v Soana

Bright Stars v Mbale Heroes

Hoima Busia v Vipers

SC Villa v VCC
