Africa: Pepsi to Sponsor ICC Africa Division One T20 Tournament

Crown Beverages Limited, under their Pepsi-Cola soda brand, has announced the sponsorship (Shs 20 million) of this year's ICC Africa Division One T20 tournament, which will take place from February 22 to March 1, here in Kampala.

To announce this support at the Oasis Bar and Restaurant in Lugogo, Timothy Luzinda, the Pepsi Brand Manager, said on February 12 that they are partnering with the Uganda Cricket Association (UCA) to ensure that this tournament is a success.

This will be the second time that Pepsi is partnering with the UCA to promote this international cricket tournament and the game at large in Uganda.

In July 2011, Uganda hosted this tournament and won it. Justine Ligyalingi, the UCA CEO, said they felt greatly indebted to Pepsi for the kind of support they are rendering cricket.

He added that with this support, cricket in Uganda can only grow and become more popular besides the fact that this package is a springboard to having a memorable cricket tournament.

This year's tournament will see five countries: Uganda, Nigeria, Tanzania, Kenya and Botswana competing for honours.
