Angola: African First World Cup to Empower Hockey in Angola

Luanda — The spokesman of the organizing committee of the hockey world cup, Pedro de Azevedo said on Monday in Luanda that the holding of the referred competition in the country on 20-29 September in 2013 will serve to empower and expand this sport in the 18 provincial capital cities of Angola.

The spokesman said so to Angop after the presentation act of competition that Africa will host for the first time.

He added that hockey has been divulged, but yet a few people play this sport, a situation that will be improved with the holding of the world cup in the country.

According to him, the world cup will attract new talents and it will encourage children to play hockey.

Pedro de Azevedo also underlined that Angola has been growing at the competitiveness and organizational level by contributing to the construction of two pavilions, as well as it will incite the managing board of clubs to implement hockey in the country.
