Zimbabwe: All Set for Miss Chez Ntemba

At least 15 top models will strut their stuff at the Miss Chez Ntemba to be held tomorrow as part of the Valentine's Day special treat. The beauty contest will start at 7pm with complimentary wine and cocktails for guests on arrival. Later, it will be non-stop music with your favourite DJs on rotation including the versatile DJ Dollar Bill, Seductive Gee, Wale and Ben, who specialises in rhumba music.

Sandra Mukosi, the promoter of the show, said the contest would be bigger and better than last year's event.

"The models we have for this show are all professionals and beautiful. Obviously, it has grown bigger and better in terms of the number of models taking part and the prizes. Some of the models have taken part in other pageants in the past. We are really excited to bring back the beauty contest which has been running for the last two years.

"Whoever is going to win the title will land a chance to become the face of the nightclub and have VIP treatment throughout the year. The contest has become popular among club goers and every year we want to give our clients the best in entertainment," she said.

Sandra said although the judges will not be fussy about weight or height, they will be strict about age.

"As you know Chez Ntemba is a no-under-21 international club and so we are not going to allow those below 21 years to enter the pageant. Last year we had an overwhelming response and this year we want to double the prizes," she said.

She, however, could not say what sort of prizes were up for grabs but hinted that the prizes were attractive.

"There is going to be lots of cash prizes for winners. We are talking about the queen and her two princesses as well as top model title. As you know, the pageant is not just for entertainment but we want to empower women," she said.

Chez Ntemba is probably the biggest rhumba nightclub in Harare which has stood the test of time. On any given weekend the club fills up to capacity with rhumba fans on the lower deck while on the upper deck it will be a mixed bag of R&B, house and dancehall.
