Tanzania: Chaneta Set Election Date

THE Tanzania Amateur Netball Association, CHANETA has announced to stage its general elections on March 23, this year in Dodoma with a budget of 27m/-.

CHANETA Chairperson, Anna Bayi said forms for the much awaited elections will be issued starting February 23 and deadline for submission is March 15. The posts which will be contested for during the elections are Chairperson, Vice-Chairperson, Treasurer and Executive Committee member posts.

She said the interested upcountry aspirants should get in touch with Secretary General on logistics to get the nomination forms. Aspirants eying to contest for the top three positions will have to part with 150,000/- for the nomination forms, while those seeking the executive committee member posts will pay 50,000/- for the forms.

She said the election committee will be picked by the association patrons and matrons alongside the National Sports Council (NSC). She cautioned that only eligible voters will cast the votes, saying those who have not paid their annual fees should do so before the election date.

Bayi said the screening will be conducted on March 21 in Dodoma, adding that the general elections will be preceded by the general assembly. She said 14 regional bodies have already conducted their elections as well as their affiliate clubs are ready for the elections.
