Nigeria: Oritsejafor Congratulates Eagles

The President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, has congratulated the Super Eagles for winning the Africa Cup of Nation (AFCON) after 19 years.

Oritsejafor, while rejoicing with all Nigerians on this joyous occasion of the victory of the Super Eagles, prayed that as Nigeria ended a 19-year wait for another AFCON title by defeating Burkina Faso 1-0 in the final on Sunday night, God should also bring to an end Nigeria's lingering socio-political and economic problems.

The CAN president urged Nigerians to sustain the unity that led to the overwhelming support for the Eagles, irrespective of their religious and ethnic biases and to radiate same in their everyday dealings in whatever calling they find themselves.

Pastor Oritsejafor, in a release signed by the his Special Assistant Media, Kenny Ashaka, congratulated the Super Eagle's squad, including the Coach, Stephen Keshi, officials of the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, for their determination, resilience and hard work as he urged them to keep up the team spirit that resulted in their victory over the Burkina Faso squad.

He said: "I pray that this God-given victory of the Nigerian team would become the sign and instrument of reconciliation, justice and peace that would bring forth joy, hope, peace and harmony in our land."
