Citizens of Grand Cape Mount County on Sunday, February 10, 2013 ended two weeks of celebration over their 2013 National Sports meet trophies captured recently.
Cape Mount in January this year emerged as champion of three disciplines of the just ended County Meet, including football, kickball and a fair play championship.
The county Superintendent Mohammed Paasewe said Cape Mountaineers over the years wished to get the trophies, since 1969, the cups have been out of their county but today with unity they were able to take the three trophies to their beloved County.
Lauding the moral and financial supports that emanated from all five districts of the County, Superintendent Passewe expressed joy to be successful amongst Liberia's 15 Political sub-divisions.
He urged his kinsmen of the county to foster unity so as to fast track development within the area.
Speaking further, Superintendent Passewe called on lawmakers of the County to initiate activities that will result to uniting every citizen of that part of Liberia, adding, "The people of Cape Mount are counting on you our lawmakers for strength so as to remain united and develop our land. We need to set an example for the youths of this county to follow, division is not a good example let put the past and selfishness behind us in order to move this County."
Meanwhile, the Captain of Cape Mount Football Team, George Freeman has expressed heartfelt thanks and appreciation to God for his blessing and favor upon the Team this year. Freeman told reporters last Sunday that Montserrado carried the trophies won for a record four times, with a head to head record over them.
He vowed to infuse other teams of the county with a winning spirit that would seize the three championships for five years.
Captain Freeman called on stakeholders of the County to keep the teams together, by providing all athletes with their basic needs, including monthly stipend.
