Nigeria: Adamawa Workers Endorse Health Insurance Scheme

Yola — Workers in Adamawa State have expressed support for government's plan to introduce the health insurance scheme.

Speaking in Yola, the state's NLC chairman, Comrade Dauda Maina, and his counterpart of TUC, Comrade Musa Abbas, said workers are happy about the scheme.

"Other workers, particularly federal civil servants are enjoying the scheme so Adamawa government's move to domesticate the scheme through the passage of the law for Adamawa State Health Insurance Scheme is in order. I want to urge all workers to take advantage of it," he said.

TUC boss, Abbas, on his part described the scheme as timely, saying it will address challenges of healthcare delivery to the populace, particularly civil servants.

Also speaking, Executive Secretary of the state's Health Insurance Scheme, Alhaji Saleh Shelleng, said registration of enrollees was expected to commence within the first quota of the year.
