Nigeria: Police Sack Three for Vandalizing Nitel Cables

Minna — Niger State police commissioner Mrs. Desire Nsirim said her command has dismissed three of its officers for vandalizing NITEL cables, saying they will soon be arraigned before a court.

The commissioner said this yesterday while briefing newsmen at the state police command, Minna saying "It was further revealed that some policemen who were indicted have been tried and dismissed from the force, while the suspects will soon be arraigned in court."

According to her, one Aminu Ibrahim and Yahaya Suleman, both of new market area that also took part in the crime, escaped from the scene after abandoning their Peugeot 406 station wagon, Mercedes Benz cars and other implements meant for the operation.

Nsirim further disclosed that her command had also nabbed four robbery suspects that specialized in stealing cars in the state.
