Nigeria: Jigawa to Purchase 6000 Metric Tons of Fertilizer

Dutse — The Jigawa State government has concluded arrangements to purchase 6,000 tons of fertilizer for the 2013 farming season. This was disclosed to Daily Trust yesterday by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture, Alhaji Muhammad Idrith Danzomo.

He said preparations for this year's farming season have started in earnest, with government planning to purchase 6,000 tons of assorted chemical and organic fertilizer for farmers at a cheaper rate.

He said the 6,000 tons is in addition to the fertilizer that the Federal Government will give the state.

Danzomo said government has made improve seeds and affordable farming implements available in all Jigawa Agricultural Supply Company(JASCO) stores in the 27 local government areas of the state, calling on farmers to maximize the services of agric extension officers that would be going round to train them on latest agric techniques.
