Egypt: Foreign Ministry Follows Up Issue of Detained Egyptians in Yemen

The Egyptian Foreign Ministry is following up the issue of detained Egyptians in Yemen.

Assistant Spokesman of the Foreign Ministry Nazih el-Naggari explained, in press statements on Tuesday 12/2/2013, that Foreign Minister Mohamed Kamel Amr has contacted more than once his Yemeni counterpart over the issue.

He explained that four Egyptians are now being detained in Yemen on security charges.

The Egyptian Foreign Ministry is keen on maintaining the rights of the detainees, he said, adding that the ministry is following up the case with the Egyptian Embassy in Sanaa. The Ministry, he added, has hired two lawyers to stand for the four suspects at court.
