Morocco: Nation 'Can Play Fundamental Role in Conflict Resolution in the World'

Morocco can play a "fundamental" role in the resolution of conflicts that arise in many parts of the world, said 2011 Nobel Peace Prize winner Yemeni Tawakkul Karman in Madrid.

"Given its civilizational and historical potential, Morocco, a country committed to the culture of peace, can play a fundamental role in establishing peace in the world."

Tawakkul Karman, who was speaking at the opening of the first seminar on the promotion of mediation held on 11 and 12 February in the Spanish capital, underlined the importance of the Moroccan-Spanish initiative for mediation in the Mediterranean, expressing her belief that it will be crowned with a "great success" for peace "between and within states."
