Egypt: Outgoing Mufti Calls On All Egyptians to Unite to Overcome Current Phase

Outgoing Mufti Ali Gomaa called on all Egyptians to close ranks to overcome the current critical phase.

During his meeting with US Assistant Secretary of State Michael H. Posner on Wednesday 13/2/2013, Gomaa said "Applying democracy in Egypt should be preceded with clarification of the norms of democracy and training on practicing its mechanisms."

He categorically rejected all forms of violence, stressing the necessity of the protection of lives of citizens, public facilities and property during this crucial phase of Egypt's history.
