Gambia: Sinchu Jatali Fire Victims Receive Assistance From RDMA

Crr — The Regional Disaster Management Agency (RDMA) Tuesday assisted 109 fire victims in Sinchu Jatali Village with food and non-food items.

The donated items, which included rice, oil, detergents, clothes and rice, were handed over at a ceremony held in Janjangbureh.

Speaking shortly after the distribution ceremony, Bubacarr Fofana, the regional disaster management coordinator, noted that the victims were severely affected by fire outbreak which had destroyed all their belongings.

He urged the people in the area to be mindful of fire, as it causes havoc on lives and property if it is out of control.

He alkalo explained that the relief assistance is provided to six households benefiting 100 people.

The alkalo of the village, Samba Njie, applauded RDMA for the humanitarian gesture they are rendering to the people of the region. He also acknowledged that the people of the region have been receiving assistance from NDMA.

He advised people in his community to make fire belts around their villages and compounds in order to avoid fire disasters.
