Gambia: Man Charged With Burglary

One Ebrima Jobe was on Tuesday arraigned at the Kanifing Magistrates' Court charged with the offence of burglary and stealing contrary to the Laws of The Gambia in a hearing presided over by Magistrate Hilary Abeke.

The particulars of offence on count one stated that the accused on the 13th of December 2012 at Latrikunda German broke into the shop of one Momodou Bah with intent to commit felony therein to wit stealing, thereby committed an offence.

On count two, it indicated that the accused on the same day and place stole from one Momodou Bah's shop the following items; a bag of cloths valued at D8000, 15 gross of cigarette valued at D3, 500, Nokia mobile phone valued at D1600 and the total value of items stolen is D13, 000.

The accused pleaded not guilty on both counts and he was granted bail in the sum of D50, 000 with two Gambian sureties.

Hearing continues on the 19th February.
