Gambia: Lucky Palace Negotiates to Settle Cases

Lucky Palace Ltd is negotiating with some plaintiffs, namely Dembo Kanteh, Aminata Jawo, Kejaw Manneh and Modou Sowe, to settle out of court their cases against the defendant company.

Dembo Kanteh is claiming D13,200 being six months redundancy allowance, D76,500 being 40 months shortfalls from the deductions from the period of March 2009 to March 2010, April 2010 to November 2011 and December 2011 to June 2012.

He also claimed D20,000 damages and recovery of D6,600 being payment for 3 months' salary due, as well as interest at the rate of 20 per cent from June 2012, to date of judgement and legal fee of D1,980.

Aminata Jawo is also claiming D9,000 being 6 months redundancy allowance due, and the refund of unpaid social security deduction the defendant made from the plaintiff's salary from June 2007 to 2009.

She also claimed D15,000 being damages for breach of contract, as well as D4,500 being payment for 3 months salary due to the plaintiff.

Interest at the rate of 20 per cent from June 2010 to date of judgement and legal fee of D1,350 was also claimed by the plaintiff.

Kejaw Manneh is claiming D10,200 being 6 months of redundancy allowance due, and refund of unpaid social security deduction the defendant made from the plaintiff's salary from May 2001, to June 2012.

Manneh also claimed D20,000 for damages for breach of contract, as well as D5,100 being payment for 3 months' salary due.

Legal fee of D1,550 and interest at the rate of 20 per cent was also claimed by the plaintiff.

Modou Sowe is claiming D10,200 being 6 months redundancy allowance due, and the refund of irregular social security deductions the defendant made from the plaintiff's salary and never paid to social security.

He also claimed D15,000 damages for breach of contract, and D5,100 being payment for 3 months' salary due.

Twenty per cent interest from June 2012 to date was also claimed by the plaintiff.
