Belgian Group, an organisation based in Belgium, Friday donated some bio-medical equipment and educational items to Sukuta Health Centre and Sukuta Lower Basic School respectively at a presentation ceremony held at the school.
Speaking at the occasion, Dawda Jarju, the headmaster of the school, thanked the Belgian group for the gesture, while commending them for their timely intervention in rehabilitating a three-classroom block that was abandoned for years. These classrooms, he said, have helped the school to accommodate and enroll more children.
He assured the donors that they would make good use of the donated items.
Speaking on behalf of the Belgian group, Francois Peters assured of their unflinching support towards the development of the community.
Speaking earlier at the gathering, Rohey Jammeh, nurse-in-charge at the Sukuta Health Centre, also thanked the group for the support they have been rendering to the health centre.
She acknowledged that the donated items will go a long way in complementing the efforts of the government, while assuring them that they will make good use of them.
Deputising for the alkalo of Sukuta, Jerreh Mama Cham also commended the group for the gesture.
