NINE members of the Nigerian House Representative, Senate and Standard Organization (SON) are expected to arrive on Thursday for three day visits to learn how the Tanzania Bureau of Standards (TBS) undertakes its watchdog role as standards regulator.
According to a press statement issued on Wednesday in Dar es Salaam by the TBS, the visit follows the need to review the Nigerian Standards Act that will provide current standardization trends as well as approximate global best practice.
According to SON a survey of standards institutions within sub- Saharan Africa and the ARSO family, in the area of legislation, discloses that TBS is one of the most outstanding and proactive with regard to standardization trends and global best practices. Soon after their arrival they will visit the Nigerian High Commission, Ministry of Industry and Trade as well as the Parliament Office in Dar es Salaam.
The delegation will on Friday visit, TBS imports office and Dares Salaam Port before touring the standard regulators headquarters where the management will brief them on the TBS Standards Act, 2009.
