Somali security forces detained 217 suspects in a major security crackdown in the Hamarjajab and Hamarweyne districts of Mogadishu, Somalia's Hiiraan Online reported Tuesday (February 12th).
"We have arrested 217 suspects; 18 still remain in custody for allegedly having links with al-Shabaab, others were released," said Benadir National Security Agency commander Colonel Khalif Ahmed Ereg.
The Somali government has vowed to continue such operations until peace and order are restored in Mogadishu.
