Kenya to Recruit Police Reservists to Fight Banditry

The Kenyan government will recruit more police reservists in areas prone to cattle rustling to help provide security, police spokesman Charles Owino announced Tuesday (February 12th).

Recruitment will begin immediately in Marigat, where eight people have been killed recently in raids by cattle rustlers, Owino said on behalf of Police Inspector General David Kimaiyo, according to Kenya's Daily Nation.

Owino said an officer commanding police division has been appointed to Marigat to protect civilians and prevent further incidents of banditry.
