Djibouti's Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI) on Monday (February 11th) visited the two sub-prefectures of Djibouti City's Balbala district to monitor election preparations and voting document distribution in advance of the February 22nd legislative elections, Djibouti's La Nation reported.

CENI President Abdi Ismail Hersi led the observation exercises, which involved visits to voter ID card distribution centres.

The voting population of the capital city has increased by 13% since the last municipal elections were held in 2012, requiring adaptations at voting centres.

CENI did not find any anomalies in Balabala, and will continue its inspection tours this week in the country's south, progressing to Arta and Ali Sabieh.
