Nigeria: Abuja Residents Won't Have Pipe-Borne Water This Weekend - Official

Abuja, Nigeria's capital, will be without water during the weekend, the Federal Capital Territory Administration, FCTA, announced on Monday.

The Abuja administration made the announcement in a statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the FCT minister, Mohammed Sule.

Mr. Sule said there will be no water from Friday, February 15 to Sunday, February 17 in Abuja.

The administration apologised for the disruption and said it is "as a result of cross connection of Phases III & IV to the existing Phases I & II Water Treatment Plants at the Lower Usuma Dam, Abuja".

The FCTA advised resident to store water for the period of the water seizure, saying the disruption is to enable an improvement in water supply to Abuja.

Abuja city centre and some satellite towns such as Kubwa and Gwarimpa have municipal water while many other satellite towns like Lugbe have no water.
