Nigeria's Police IG Appoints New Commissioners

The Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar, has announced the appointment of new Commissioners of Police and the re-deployment of some older ones.

A total of 33 police officers were either newly promoted or redeployed in an ongoing process to ensure efficiency in the force, the police boss said.

In his speech to the officers, Mr. Abubakar asked them to rededicate themselves to the service. He said the new appointees and the re-deployed commissioners are expected to inject fresh ideas into the system.

Mr. Abubakar also charged them to be proactive and aggressive in crime fighting strategies.

The 33 affected officers are:

2. Musa A. Daura - Kano

3. Moses Saba-Ndagi - Ebonyi

4. Johnson A. Ogunsakin- Kwara

5. T. E. Ibitibituwa - Enugu

6. Hilary Opara- Kogi

7. Jubril O. Adeniji- Taraba

8. Mohammed A. Indabawa- Oyo

9. Mohammed Katsina - Imo

10. Usman Tili Abubakar - Abia

11. Olufemi D. Ogunbayode- FCT

12. Dorathy A. Gimba- Osun

13. Foluso a. Adebanjo- Edo

14. Mbu Joseph Mbu - Rivers

15. A. K. Shodipo - Cross River
