Angola: Governor Pledges Assistance to Carnival Groups

Lubango — The governor of the southern Huila province, João Marcelino Tyipinge, Tuesday pledged the government's commitment to provide unconditional support to the carnival groups for development of national culture.

The governor guaranteed so to Angop at the end of provincial event of carnival parade.

João Tyipinge, who would not mention the kind of assistance, defended more strictness on organisational level and all components necessary to improve the art.

The official stressed the importance of the carnival.

According to him, through the dance and song the groups express the history of their origin and consequently enhance the cultural identity of the country.
