Western Sahara: Spain Reiterates Its Support to the Right of the Sahara People to Self-Determination

Madrid — the Spanish Secretary of state for Foreign Affairs, Gonzalo de Benito, on Monday reiterated the support of the Spanish rolling Government to the efforts of the UN Secretary general's personal envoy Christopher Ross to reach a just ,lasting and mutually acceptable political solution which guarantees self-determination of the people of Western Sahara.

"Spanish Government supports a just, lasting and mutually acceptable political solution which guarantees free self-determination of the people of Western Sahara in accordance with the principles and UN charter" says the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation in a statement at end of conversations with Christopher Ross.

Ross's visit to Madrid comes in framework of his tour to what so called group of friends of Western Sahara in attempt to accelerate negotiations between the Polisario Front and Morocco to solve the conflict .
