Liberia: GOL Launches UNFPA Country Program

The Government of Liberia in collaboration with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) is expected to launch a five-year (2013-2017) country program today in Monrovia.

The Country Program outlines UNFPA's contribution to Liberia's development agenda in the areas of women's health and rights, youth and adolescent sexual and reproductive health, and data for development planning for the next five years.

They include the provision of comprehensive adolescent sexual and reproductive health services; emergency obstetric care services including fistula; facility and community-based family planning services; increased skilled attendants at birth; data to support policies and reproductive health services; and gender equality and reproductive rights.

According to a release, the 2013-2017 Country Program is the fourth UNFPA Country Program for Liberia.

The launch of the program coincides with the signing of the 2013 Annual Work Plan with the Ministries of Health and Social Welfare, Gender and Development, Youth and Sports and Education.
