Gambia: Sheriff Sarr-Sponsored Volleyball Tournament Ends

A volleyball championship organised by Sheriff Sarr, councilor of the Old Jeshwang Ward, was recently staged between the players of the Old Jeshwang Volleyball team, who are the current title holders of the domestic league.

The one-day event brought together players from the team split into two. The championship was held at the volleyball court of the Gambia Technical Training Institute (GTTI).

The winners went home with a cash prize of D2, 000 while the runners-up pocketed home a consolation prize of D1, 000.

In a post match- interview with Observer Sports, Sheriff Sarr said the initiative was all geared towards creating greater and better understanding amongst the youths of Old Jeshwang. According to him, his priorities for the ward if re-elected, would be to improve environmental sanitation, infrastructural development and empowerment of youths and women, amongst others.
