The creation of Buuri District which was hived off Central Imenti in Meru County has sparked off confusion in the selection of form one students.
School heads in Central Imenti and Buuri districts are fighting over the selection of students in nine schools which are in Kibirichia division.
The division was moved to the new Buuri district, but Central Imenti head teachers still want to select students from Kibirichia. But Buuri head teachers say Kibirichia is now part of their district and should pick the stu- dents.
Steve Ringera, a school owner in Kiirua, said the confusion has been brought about by the fact that the students were registered in Cen- tral Imenti and not Buuri.
"Even the form four students will be registered in Central Imenti," said Ringera. "As residents of Buuri we want to know why Central Imenti head teachers still insist on selecting students from Kibirichia." Ringera called on the government to intervene.
