Kenya: Pev Artiste Hits the Studio for Peace

Artistes Aliwah and Cal who were victims of the 2007/2008 post election violence have decided to add their voice to the call for peace.

Aliwah said, "Next week we are releasing a new debut hit single Usininyime Amani. The song basically is a plea to politicians and leaders to allow us to enjoy peace. It is a cry of a struggling young Kenyan, whose plans are not pegged on the five years the politicians are in office but beyond that.

Before he can achieve anything, he wonders why all of a sudden his dream has been cut short yet he just got married the other day and has a baby and a new business that he can't operate due to the instability".

They recalled the post poll violence saying that "we were living in a slum and we witnessed the ugly face of tribalism first hand. At one point I was forced to mediate between two vigilante groups," said Aliwah.
