Two children drowned in a family fish pond in Ol Kalou. John Macharia, 2, and Hannah Nyambura, 9, were playing when the younger one slipped and fell into the pond.

The bodies were retrieved by police and taken to JM Kariuki Memorial Hospital mortuary. In Ndaragwa, a 16-year-old boy committed suicide by hanging himself with a rope inside their house.

Nyandarua North police boss Benjamin Onsongo said James Waithaka, who was said to have a mental problem, went missing on February 6 at Muruai . The body was found by his grandmother.
