Information PS Bitange Ndemo has warned politicians against sending messages to the public to solicit votes. Speaking at the National Steering Committee on media monitoring in Nairobi yesterday, Ndemo said the act is a breach of privacy.
He said citizens have a right to sue for the violation of privacy. "We have been receiving information since last week that some politicians are using data obtained from the Registrar of Ppolitical Parties to send campaign messages to the public," he said.
He said the ministry cannot stop the practise since politicians already have the data but urged the public to take them to court.
Ndemo also warned bloggers against engaging in unprofessional and biased polling on the outcome of the Monday presidential debate. He said this unfairly places some presidential aspirants above others.
